If you are already familiar with Myspace you might be aware of this. If you haven't been involved with the civilized world for very long and don't know about Myspace, I don't believe you.
However, as part of the social networking site's attempts to keep up with the ever growing popularity of Facebook, a little while back supposedly Myspace introduced a game called Mafia Wars.
Mafia Wars is tied into the site and anybody with an account can play. It allows you to become a mafia character and your success and ability to prosper in the game is linked to your ability to get other Myspace members to join your Mafia.
As a young inexperienced mafia member, you start off by doing small jobs like robberies and muggings to earn money and gain points so that you can invest in property and move up to higher levels. As your money takes increase and your levels go up, you will need more members in your mafia to defend your turf and make more money so you can continue to grow. You can also put contract hits out on other players who are "getting in the way."
The game is great fun and very strategy based in that there is some kind of consequence attached to every action and you must play your moves accordingly. Sometime, you may be surprised by what happens. I won't be specific, you'll have to try the game out to see what I mean.
It is great because the design of Mafia Wars will not allow you to sit and play it for hours on end without break because your character constantly needs time to regenerate after certain actions. This does help with the addiction factor. Although, I can see that potential is still there. When you start playing you'll see what I mean. I like that you can just check in for a little bit, play and then quickly get back to your life.
I was just recently introduced to it as I mentioned but I will be posting from time to time to let you know how it goes. We might even run into each other in the trenches
