Fall Out Boy Team Up With Elvis Costello and Debbie Harry

Imagine you had your own rock and roll band and you had a chance to team up with Elvis. No, not that one, the other rock legend. Don't know who I am talking about? Well, you should.

That is exactly what happened recently for pop group Fall Out Boy on their most recent album. Their fifth record, Folie a Deux, will be littered with collaborations although the band admits it did not start out that way but rather just came together. Apparently, it came together very nicely.

Blondie's Debbie Harry shares a track with the band. Lead singer Patrick Stump said that Debbie Harry's song came together very naturally. He claims she is amazing and added so much authority to the song. To say Debbie Harry is amazing is just the tip of the iceberg. She is one of the most revolutionary figures in the pop music business. Surprisingly, it is argued that she may have been the first to rap on a pop single.

Stump went on to say that he is hugely influenced by Elvis Costello and that having him on the album was an honour. Costello, it is safe to say, has become a living legend in the music business. He too has an exceptional ear for unique sound and melody craftsmanship. To say having Costello participate on the album with them is honour would be a tremendous understatement. I hope they offered to clean his house for the next year in conjunction with whatever they are paying him because whatever they are paying him, it isn't enough.

The band was originally planning on releasing the album in time for the November 4th elections but have decided to push the date back. They claim that Americans have more important things to be thinking about at that time. They also are hoping that young people will take the time to think seriously about the future of the country. Interesting that they think the release of their album could interfere with the way the people of the country will be thinking about the election. I think the reality is they were worried the album would get lost in the fervor that is the electoral process in the U.S. and end up taking a huge hit.

Smart move to push it back. In the end, the album will be released in December while the American people are doing their Christmas shopping and hoping they didn't make a huge mistake on election day.
