Movie Star's Son Busted For Marijuana

This is the kind of story that irks me because again, as I have noted before, there is no point in printing it. It is actually kind of funny.

The son of a movie star got busted for having a couple duffel bags full of marijuana in his car. Well whoop dee doo. Do you know how many people get busted for marijuana possession in this country every day? Tons. Do you know how many people are doing marijuana right now while you are reading this? Even more. Consequently, there are probably many more interesting and possibly even more important stories to be told there.

Perhaps a story could be written about how many people are busted for possession of marijuana. I'm sure the public would love to know how many of their tax dollars go into arresting, prosecuting and processing people for possession of marijuana. That would probably be an interesting story. It might even provoke some response. How about a story demonstrating how many people in the world are using marijuana at this very moment. I think that would freak people out. It would especially freak out people who were smoking marijuana while watching the report.

Nope. Instead the news blip is about a movie star's son who got busted with drugs. Of course, somebody thinks it is news worthy because the person busted is related to a movie star. That to me is hysterical. The busted person is related to a movie star, so it is worthy of telling the story. I'm sure if we all go back far enough in our family trees you would discover that we are all related to some movie star somewhere. As such, we should be seeing a lot more bust stories in the news.

It gets better. This person is related to a movie star who is dead. Now that just opens up the flood gates as far as the rest of us doesn't it? Throughout history you must be related to somebody who was in show business at some time. Therefor, if you are related to a dead movie star and get busted with drugs, you can make the news. This movie star died in 1994. I guess in the grand scheme of history that is still pretty recent. The relative can't even escape public scrutiny after death. To me, that is really funny. This guy doesn't have anything to do with entertainment at all, but makes entertainment news because his long since dead relative was in the business. I'm not even going to tell you who the story was about because it isn't even worth a moment of your time.

Think of all the resources that went into producing that story. Think of how better spent those resources could have been. Think about all the different things you could have been doing instead of hearing about it. Think about all the different things you could have been learning at that moment. Maybe that's the problem. Maybe nobody cares to think anymore.
