Joaquin Phoenix To Stop Acting

Here is another sign of the times. It isn't bad enough that horrible displays of so-called "entertainment" continue to dominate the airwaves, but now quality entertainers are deciding to call it quits.

Joaquin Phoenix, one of the best actors working today in my opinion, had decided to give up acting all together. There isn't much news yet as to why, only that he is going to pursue a career in music.

You might recall, Phoenix was nominate for oscars in both "Walk the Line" where he portrayed the late and great Johnny Cash, and "Gladiator" for his supporting role as a psychotic dictator. He was great in both films. He is also a remarkable performer in smaller supporting roles, particularly when he gets to be a little twisted. You might recall a Nicholas Cage film called "8mm", about a detective who has to find out if a snuff film he was shown is genuine. Check out Phoenix's performance, he will freak you out.

I only hope this isn't going to be some kind of trend. I don't want to see more of Lindsay Lohan or anybody else for that matter who get to be in film because the papparazzi love them. Phoenix is a genuine performer. He and his late brother River, were born with talent. You can't manufacture that. You can't fake it. You just give a guy like that the role and you know something amazing is going to happen.

I know something else amazing that should happen. Phoenix should change his mind. Wait until he sees what his choices are going to be the next time he wants to go to the movies.
